"Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world…"
'Imagine,' was written in March 1971 during the Vietnam War, and described by Lennon as “an ad campaign for peace”. It has become a permanent protest song and a lasting emblem of hope.
The song is an expression of hope for freedom and peace in the world, and the world being one and everyone living together in peace. Lennon reminds us that the difference among people or countries in the world need not be a chasm separating people, or arousing war instead we can live together celebrating and accepting our diversity and helping one another and sharing the world’s resources.
