Gabriel Dawe Plexus Series

Born in 1973, Gabriel Dawe is a Mexican-born artist who lives in the USA. Gabriel Dawe is particularly known for his Plexus series - named for the network of blood vessels or nerves that run throughout the body and form connections.

Dawe's Plexus series are large-scale networks of sewing thread that are investigations of the visible spectrum of light and create beautiful rainbow structures.

Dawe’s use of materials related to textiles stems from a frustrated childhood when he was not allowed to learn traditional needlework by his grandmother because of societal expectations for boys.
