Z is for Domenico Zipoli

Another welcome contribution from Tamsin S a little known piece called ‘Elavazione’ by Domenico Zipoli

Domenico Zipoli ( 17 October 1688 – 2 January 1726) was an Italian Baroque composer who worked and died in Córdoba, in the Viceroyalty of Peru, Spanish Empire, (presently in Argentina). He became a Jesuit and taught music among the Guaraní people. He is remembered as the most accomplished musician among Jesuit missionaries.

This beautiful work is an arrangement for oboe, cello, organ and strings of the Toccata “all'elevazione” in C major for organ by Domenico Zipoli (1688 - 1726) -from his collection of keyboard pieces “Sonate d'intavolatura per organo e cimbalo”.
