Three very different women with different backgrounds to deal with meet by chance in the country town of Littlewood and are inspired by ethos of the local café called Brew and the random acts of kindness notes written up on the Kindness Board. They decide to make a pact to be kinder to others and to themselves.
The book is a reminder that small acts of kindness can have a big impact and can bring about big changes. Also kindness towards others leads to more kindness and better relationships and connections.
I really enjoyed this book and it covered the growth of the characters, learning to set boundaries, learning to move on, building a community, helping others but primarily being kind to others despite their initial response and learning to be kind to ourselves too. I particularly liked the little examples of notes left on the kindness board at the end of various chapters and think this would be a worthwhile project in any community setting!
Summer at the Kindness Café was previously published as a four-part serial titled Random Acts of Kindness. This is the complete story in one package.
