Repurposed art

Born in 1983 in the USA, Erika Iris Simmons is an artist who uses non-traditional or repurposed materials.

Cassette tapes have been used to create beautiful scenes and portraits. EIS particularly likes to create portraits of celebrities and will even use the tape from the cassette of the artist in question when she is creating!

She will also use manuscript to create images of composers!

Wow so clever. I really like the Jimi Hendrix picture. So much hair made from cassette tapes.

I had plenty of untangled tape cassettes in the 70's, sure I couldn't of been as creative as that with them!
