Keep Going: 10 Ways to Stay Creative in Good Times and Bad by Austin Kleon

Like a self-confessed magpie, Austin Kleon, fully admits that his book is full of things he has ‘stolen’ from others and he encourages you to steal the ideas that work for you.

Keep Going, is based on timeless, practical, and ethical principles and gives illustrated advice and encouragement about how to stay creative, focused, and true to yourself in the face of personal burnout or the distractions of a busy world.

The book is a useful ‘go to’ for anyone trying to sustain a meaningful and productive life. It covers things like how to build a Bliss Station ( a place or fixed period where you can disconnect from the world to connect to yourself) and how to see that every day Is Groundhog Day (yesterday's over, tomorrow may never come, so just do what you can do today).

Keep Going is full of practical advice. It encourages us to get outdoors for example, and take a walk because “The demons hate fresh air” and to worry less about getting things done, and more about the worth of what you’re doing. It reminds us about the importance of paying attention, and especially to pay attention to what you pay attention to.

Instead of focusing on making your mark, it simply encourages us to work to leave things better than you found them by keeping working, keeping playing, keeping searching, keeping giving, keeping living and most importantly.... keeping going!
